adding a air filter...guess how much extra the insurance is

ok my 88' rx7 n/a is currently insured with a a full exhaust system and an air filter. I Just the stock intake back on because the previous owner had the intake taking in hot air. Anyway, tried putting a quote though auto trader without the air filter.

ill let you guess how much my insurance went down...

(original price is £2k)

Its a 150 hp rwd drive car

im 19 with a years NCD (i was a named driver last year, havnt crashed yet :D) and 3points



anyway the internet quote went down a whole £800 to £1200

so i rang up to make my saving, ive been on the policy for 2/3 months so i thought fair dooze i wont save the whole 800 but its still worth it. They said they would give me £96 back..... Asked how much money i would get back if canceled the policy and it was only £1200 so i only saved £96 in the end. Still good though, more power and i saved money, result!!!
 
I was looking at it from a very basic way. when the port opens you get more power as your letting more gas escape from the engine more easily. Now technically its not the same as vtec but i see it as a similar idea overall

edit: timing in a rotary engine is determined by the position and size of the ports. So adding another one changes the timing

i did the same with a full exhuast system and the price only changed by £100

it must be to do with the number of 17-20 yr olds that make claims and have air filters?
