Adding a mic to AKG K702 headphones

Antlion Modmic or V-Moda Boompro are the best options.

Pros and cons for both.

Modmic; As it's separate, no connection hassle connecting to a PC. You'd have two cables to manage though.

Boompro; Can connect directly to headphones, meaning both microphone and headphone cable is just the one cable. Uses 3.5mm connection though and K702's use mini XLR, meaning you'd need an adaptor. Small ones are not readily available and larger ones will add distance between headphone and microphone.

If you're feeling rather flush, then there is a wireless Modmic. Not quite as good as the wired Modmic and costs twice as much. Depends how important ease of use and convenience of wireless is I suppose.

Interesting. Is there a Modmic that incorporates the headphone and microphone cable into one cable, like the Boompro does?

I've only seen the one that has it's own separate cable and the microphone attaches to the ear cup.

No, K702 use mini XLR connection. You can get mini XLR to 3.5mm adaptors, but they distance microphone from the headphones somewhat. Smaller ones are better, but they are harder to get hold of.

Cheers all so far :)

I am tempted by a desk mic after looking at the options but everywhere is either 7-10 days delivery or out of stock :(

Thought i'd update you, I'm currently waiting for the RODE NT USB Mic and the HyperX Quadcast to come back into stock. :)

I used the Modmic USB and it works really well.

£1's worth of micro velcro easily solves the two cable problem.

Vmoda BoomPro here with the adapter. Works perfectly, no cable mess and adapter is tiny so not much distance added.

FYI, 702s are so much comfier after adding some head support...

I'm actually shocked AKG did not think of this or even bother to test the headphone on people with no hair. Without support, a pressure point is created in one place with makes them unusable after 10 minutes (for me anyway)
It took me 5 minutes to add some foam with double sided sticky tape. So far holding up after 4 months

Looks like they have shortened one of these:

REAN RT3FCB 3 Pin Mini XLR Female Plug Ta3f Wireless Microphone Guitar Connector
I did think that too, but pretty sure i found a picture of the other end and its not 3.5mm female.
They probably made it shorter and adapted it to 3.5mm. The place that sold them did say they were custom made and I couldnt find them anywhere else

Yep, Same setup as myself. Seems to work well.

During summers I prefer like 1cm hair length (actually ½cm is good for fast drying) and never had problems with that particular thing.
