Adding a quick-release mount to a Manfrotto tripod?

I'm thinking of buying a quick-release mount for a friend's birthday; he has a Manfrotto tripod with a 141 3-way head and I'm wondering whether he can add a quick-release mount to this setup? I imagine it's pretty simple but just wanted to check....?
