Hi

Our SBS2008 server is setup to accept email for abcde.co.uk. We also want to accept email for abcde.info for some users.

I have added abcde.info to the list of accepted domains in Exchange.

Do I now just need to change the MX records and add the .info email addresses to the users mailbox in exchange?

How will the following work? We use MS Outlook 2010.

1) Will both .co.uk & .info emails wille mails just arrive in their main inbox?

1. In the event of user having two email addresses (co.uk and .info) can you select which email address to use to send from?

2. Can a default be selected?

1) Yes - you can have lots of e-mail addresses on each mailbox

2) You can select a default out of the configured ones to send from. However, if you want the user to have a choice of which account to send from on a per-email basis you have to fudge things a bit. You either need to add the secondary e-mail address as POP3/SMTP type account and only send from it. Or, if you have Outlook 2010 you could create a second mailbox for each person with a .info address as OL 2010 can open multiple Exchange mailboxes properly.

Rather than adding 2 mailboxes, you can add the .info address to a DL, set the user to be a member of the DL, and give the user Send As permissions over the DL.

This way inbound mail will hit the DL then deliver to the user, and they can send as the .info alias by changing the value in the From field in Outlook.

Thanks for the replies.

Eulogy is a a DL a distribution list in Exchange?

I'm new to this so still have a lot to learn :o

Yes, DL = Distribution List, that's right.

Two different approaches, don't think one is necessarily better than the other, more down to personal preference. Extra mailbox generally need to be licensed for though.
