Adding another 480

Hi guys,

I'm nearly set to put my WC kit all together, just wondering, with the prices of 480's so damn low now, I was looking to possibly get another one to SLI them up.

My question is would I require another Radiator in order to keep acceptable temperatures? Or would the single loop be just fine cooling 2 480's in SLI both using FC480 waterblocks.

PC Spec is in sig.

WC Kit consists of:

EK FC480 - Copper/Acetal
EK HF Supreme - Acetal
EK X2 Advanced Res 250
HW Labs GTX360 Radiator
Swiftech 18w MCP355
3 x Scythe ultra Kaze 200RPM 120mm Fans (Don't want to run these higher than 1500RPM though)

I do want to keep my system quiet, and don't plan on overclocking either the card or the CPU any further than what they are currently at (although I may tamper with the 480 clock speeds a little :P)
Many thanks!

Yeah I think I might do that, I'll be picking up 3 sharkoon silent eagles to go along with the scythes. I'm wondering if there'll be enough space with 6 fans, as I don't really want to have 3 fans mounted on the outside, but if the temperature and noise performance is ok I guess I can do it :)

if you get the right fans in push/pull you could have 2 x 480 and your cpu no probs...check your choices spec for static pressure though it makes all the difference

I was wondering then, as I'm a bit new to the actual mechanics of watercooling and such, what kind of static pressure should I be looking for to get the best kind of performance out of my radiator?

Thanks for the info, I just had a brief skim over it but will go into it further later on when I get bored again at work heheh. I think I might switch my choice over to the Scythe Gentle Typhoon's, which apparently have great static pressure and are dead quiet even at max RPM.... win win!!! :D

Will probably pick up 6 of these and use a push/pull config.

because im getting a dangerden tower 29 and they can take either a 480/560 (depending what you tell them you want) 560 in my case plus a 360 that fits in the bottom...i want a 560 plus a 360.....im planning a super rig with tri/quad sli or crossfire/quadfire......and 3 x 2560x1600 monitors :D ....cant wait to do the build log for that one ;)

holy bejeebuz!! You gotta post pics of the work log when putting that beast together. Would love to see it.

Indeed, although I have been told that my PSU should handle the 480's and if it doesn't, I'm not too bothered about possibly upgrading my PSU to something like a 1100W or something for future proofing.
