Currently I am using 4GB ( 2 x 2) of these:
https://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-192-CS

along with 2 x 1GB of these:
https://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-072-OC

giving me 6GB.

I use my PC for 3d modelling and animation, After Effects, photoshop that kind of thing.
I have overclocked my Q6600 to 3.4, but haven't touched the Ram, which runs at 400MHz Dual interleaved timing 4-4-4-12 @ 2T

The memory is DDR2, would I have any problem taking advantage of the cheap OCZ Ram offers just now, and adding 4GB (2 x 2) of DDR3?

Would this work, or would I be better just getting another 4GB of the Corsair like I have.

*NOTE*
This will be my last upgrade with my current P35-DS3 board, my next will be new board architecture, new CPU and Ram.
It will have to be a big step up from what Im running just now, so willing to wait.

As I said, its just because RAM is so cheap just now, maybe its a good time to upgrade to 8GB.*

*I WILL use all 8GB...some big 3D scenes are hitting the limits just now.

Thanks.

dammit.
your right...shame.

Ah well...bummer is that another of the Giga DS3 boards is DDR3 compatible.

No point blowing any substantial cash just to get 8GB then as my next upgrade will be the biggie, new board cpu and ram with what I have as a 2nd PC.

just thought it was a good time to upgrade what I had, but I'll get by on 6GB for now.

thanks.
