Could some of you knowledgable folk explain the upgrade path to adding another card to my Powercolor x1800 gto in crossfire. I understand that you don't need a mastercard anymore so is it just a case of buying another gto or do you need an XT? Does it have to be the same brand?

Not looking to do this now but may in the future when the price is right

Thanks in advance

Mark

Thanks all for the replies

Seems strange that the budget gto does not require a mastercard where as the more expensive do? Still a bit confused over all this(nothing new)

I'm very happy with the GTO, does every thing I need so far and I've already got my plumming mate coming round to see if he can open up the 4 other pipes :)

Loadsa is on the money. Check here:

It's been supported since Cat 6.4 Beta, so just chuck it in a RD580 board with Cat 6.5 and another GTO and enjoy. Only read one review so far and that was on a french site, but it seems reasonable enough. I'd look to do the same myself TBH...

BTW, if it's a Powercolor you won't be able to unlock it, and even if you did you wouldn't then be able to use it in dongle-less crossfire, so just crank it up to the max in Overdrive and stick the second one in.
