Alright, i dont do carpentry but no one is replying to my posted job so I guess i'd better get learning!

Our 14mo is going to hurt himself off the deck, which is about 2 feet high, so i want to add Balustrade to prevent this. There's a distinct lack of online guides for doing this as clearly its meant to be done upon initial construction. I want to avoid ripping the deck apart and cementing posts into holes, theoretically i can remove the balustrade at a later date.

I think I know what I want to do, please refer to my expert CAD image.

I figured i would take off decking boards at the points marked with orange squares for posts (marked 1). I can cut the balustrade to length. I'd attach these to the sub-frame using coach bolts, then replace the deck boards cut to shape? That seems the most efficient way of doing it.

However i'm confused about the post marked 2. Can anyone enlighten me as to how I could affix it to the frame? Any help appreciated.
