Hello,

One thing my car is lacking is Bluetooth connectivity, I only want it to stream music from my phone and control the playlist without having to take the phone of my pocket and plug it into aux

I dont want to change the head unit, the car has a 3.5mm audio in and the phone is a Nokia Lumia, all my music is on my phone.

Does anything exist?

Thanks

I'm afraid changing the head unit is the easiest option if you need bluetooth. Otherwise just use a 3.5mm to 3.5mm and keep it wired. Other options will involve less satisfactory methods. Head unit and model needed to tell you any other options out there

I don't know of cheaper alternatives but I have the above and it works brilliantly. I can stop/start/pause/skip forward/back but not navigate the playlists themselves (on Spotify at least). It works well with Google map Satnav too, as it will automatically pause music to give verbal instructions (if turned on), then carry on playing music afterwards.

Aye Parrots are the best thing I've used but installing them and price can be restrictive when a Bluetooth head unit that will do all the above is under £100

I was looking into this myself recently for my wife's Mazda3.

I had a Parrot Bluetooth module integrated within my Pioneer head unit and it worked great but the after-market ones directly from Parrot don't seem to integrate with steering controls etc (in my very limited research). Perhaps you need an adaptor from somewhere but they seem designed more as standalone devices.

Then I came across these Bluetooth modules that are car-specific and plug into the external CD changer port of your OEM head unit and act as another source so work fine with steering controls. A couple examples:

This is perfect for you. Connects to aux port.

Here is a more informative picture.

The unit has play, skip, pause, volume buttons and a button to answer calls and a built in microphone.

That SmartBean looks good too

After reading a bit more it seems these AUX adaptors have a flaw where by you physically need to plug the device in and press a button to skip tracks, this is a flaw for me because the AUX port is in the centre console, I could just run a cable but thats what I'm doing with my phone currently so defeats the point, it seems the only way I'll get what I want is with a head unit :(

Damn car doesn't have an aux port so if I want to play from my phone I'd have to change the head unit.

I have to agree I have just installed one of these in my car recently and what a fantastic piece of kit
