Hi,

I just purchased a NETGEAR WPN824 v2 Router and installed it onto my computer in under 10mins, the reason i purchased this was so i can share the connection with another computer (using a ethernet wire - dont require the wireless feature for this)

Im just confused as to how i go about sharing the internet connection? im on NTL. i have 3 ports free in the router so i can add another 3 computers, but how do i do this?

I want it setup so my computer does not have to be switched on in order for the other computer to share the connection.

Please help.

Thanks.

enabled DHCP

NTL Modem ---> WAN port on router ---> Other PC's, then either use a static IP for each PC, preferably one that doesn't conflict with the DHCP range of the router if it's enabled or use DHCP. By using static IP's port forwarding is possible as and when you need it.

thanks for your replies,

networking is VERY new to me, so could you please explain HOW i would do this please? please by step - by -step

Thanks just tried it and it works.

The only small problem i have is im a user of DC++ (p2p sharing program) and cant download anything from that anymore? it worked perfect before the router was installed.

any ideas?

Thanks so much, just did it and worked first time no problems. Your a star.

As you seem to know your things about networking i have another question for you, how do i go about sharing certain folders between computers? I have gone to my network places, and the second computer is not shown on there, (yet internet sharing is working on bother computer no problems) and how can i access the shared folder on the other computer?

Thanks again you helped a lot,

Vijay

ive done that on my computer ad i can now access my shared folders when i run \\computer name

i have also done the setup as described on the second computer and tried to run \\computer name of the second computer on my computer but i just get "network path was not found"

any ideas?
