Ok, reasonably new to all this iphone/iTunes lark so I'm a bit confuzzled.

I have followed the instructions on how to add a custom ringtone to my iphone, right clicked the mp3 in question, went to "Get Info" and changed the start/finish time etc. Then converted it to an .aac file version and then dragged and dropped to my desktop. Then finally changed the file format to .m4r and dragged and dropped it back into my "Ringtones" folder in my Library in iTunes.

Worked fine. Now have Bannana Splits by the dickies from the movie Kickass showing up in my iphone as a "Custom ringtone". :D However, I want to ad another few custom ringtones. So I go through the same process as I have already done and drag and drop the .m4r file into my "Ringtones" folder in the iTunes library. But it wont add it to the phone.

I click on "Sync" and it goes through the Sync process but not only will it not add the second .m4r, it tells me it cannot find the first one I added and that it was not added to the phone.

What am I doing wrong?.

Excellent, cheers for the link.

I sussed it out - I was setting the length of the ringtone to 50 seconds. Dropped that down to 40 seconds and it added the second custom ringtone fine. :)

Now, I don't suppose there is a guide around somewhere here that shows how to add your own custom text alert sounds is there?.

It's something I'd really hoped would be added to OS4 but it's not been on any of the beta versions.
