OK, I wanted to see how much extra it would cost to add a close female friend to my car. Imagine my surprise when RAC said that if I added her to my policy they would refund over £100 of my annual premium. I then added my mother and sister-in-law too as occasional drivers and the premium dropped by another £150. My premium has now gone from £900 to about £600 (it doesn't add up because they refund on a pro-rata basis)

Interesting!

Additional driver 1 - Relationship to policyholder - mistress
Additional driver 2 - Relationship to policyholder - **** buddy
Additional driver 3 - Relationship to policyholder - ex-wife
Additional driver 4 - Relationship to policyholder - mother
Additional driver 5 - Relationship to policyholder - grandmother (deceased)

Et voila, £100/year insurance.

I should try it...

This is where men benefit from sleeping around. ;)

Be intimate with lots of women, put them on your insurance and hey presto. :p

Another thing that makes very little sense is the way that even declaring my Court Conviction for doing 100mph on the M6 (5 points, £150 fine) makes absolutely NO difference to the premium.

I always add my mother and grandmother on the policy...not just to lower it, but so they can pick me up when I've had a few too many bevvies :D

You didn't know this? :p

Obviously theres a limit as too how much they knock off.

It makes almost no sense. Why am I less likely to crash my car if I have a girlfriend on the policy? Have they done research that suggests that regular sex drops testosterone levels in men making them calmer behind the wheel? And if so similar discounts for adding mothers to policies become VERY worrying!

I've always had my mum on my insurance. She has'nt driven in years but if I ever get caught speeding, well.....ahem!!

what about on the off chance that you actually get pulled over by a real person :P

Thought everyone knew adding women dropped the insurance loads, got my mum and sister on my policy.

I hear this so often. Does anyone actually think the Police check to see if the driver you accuse when you get done by a Gatso was insured to drive the car? I doubt it a lot. They just want the £60 IMHO. Plus most 'mothers' will be insured TP through own policy DWOC.

I have the missus on my insurance to lower the premium but I wont allow her to drive it :D
