Adding Linux machines to a Microsoft Active Directory domain?

Is it possible to have Linux machines be managed by an Active Directory domain? I'm curious what the best solution is to manage Linux machines in a mixed Microsoft environment.

What specifically do you mean by "managed by"? Are you just looking to use the AD for authentication?

Also checkout sssd, I use it to join Arch linux clients to my domain. Setup includes properly working kerberos to auto mount windows shares too
