ok my son has a Dell XPS 7100 Desktop PC it takes Dual Channel DDR3 Ram and I know it was configured by Dell to run @1066 and not @1333 , But it seems as though someone has swapped the ram that Dell put in it ...and for some reason he now only has one stick in it ( i dunno why or how ) so I'm looking for some cheap good Ram to put into he's system , He doesn't game , but he does use Music Production Software , FL Studio I think he uses :)

thanx :)

ive had some dells at work with underclocked ram not too sure why but we've got some dell laptops with ddr3 1333mhz in them and a mobo that can run it that speed but bios locked to run at 1066mhz cant figure out why they would gimp performance some of our desktops have the same locks

Do you think it's for stability, life expectancy or warranty reasons?

Doesn't seem like much point in underclocking what it's base parameters should be?

no idea could be that they dont trust the crap ram they install to run at full speed without errors so you could be onto something there
