Hi
I have alaptop - ASUS TUF A17 FA707RR with 1x16GB RAM DDR-5 4800. second slot is free.
I would like to add another 1x16GB.
Does it have to be the same brand or is it ok to mix ? If so can you please recommend what to buy?
I have downloaded CPU-Z software and checked existing RAM, it is :
SK HYNIX - HMCG78MEBSA092N.
Many thanks
Mike

Can you take a pic with cpu-z? Would make it clearer what you have.

I think it is just plain old 4800 @ 1.1v, so you may be able to just buy some generic memory like Kingston value and plonk it in. Since this is DDR5, I'm really not sure how much mix and match matters, but at JEDEC speeds (with DDR4) you could usually get away with it.

Safest option is to sell it and buy a matched 32GB kit as said above.

Hi,
I have photo on my phone, unfortunately I don’t know how to add it on forum ?

DDR5 functions differently to DDR4 so there’s little to no impact if you mismatch. Get a stick of Corsair or Crucial 4800 and you’ll be fine.

Thank you,
One more question, how do you know they have the same timing? I believe it is CL 40 latency ?

They're in the datasheet, in the first paragraph (you gave a screenshot earlier). Your current memory, the timings were in the CPU-Z screenshot. Crucial have them on the product page.

Hello,
Thank you very much @Tetras @Mesai
Kingston 1x16GB fitted and working fine so far…
I would like to ask for help to get correct memory for my son laptop.
It is Acer Nitro 5 AN515-45-R157.
Existing memory 2x8gb DDR-4 3200,
I would like to replace it for 2x16gb
Please see screenshot from CPU-Z
Does it have to be set with latency CL22 or CL20?
Many thanks

Hi, I think you need 'standard' 3200 memory (CL22), that boots and runs at 1.2v.

The Kingston configurator suggests (this is double sided) KCP432SD8/16 or KCP432SS8/16 (this is single sided), but it doesn't have your exact laptop model.

The Crucial configurator suggests (this is a 32GB kit) CT2K16G4SFRA32A or (this is a 16GB single stick) CT16G4SFRA32A, but it also doesn't have your exact laptop model.

I think if you buy a CL20 stick like this: KF432S20IB/16, your laptop will probably ignore it and run at CL22 anyway. I don't see any mention of support for XMP in your laptop's specification, but you could check the BIOS yourself.

Hi,
Please see picture of my current 2x8gb (single sided?).
