What parts do you need to add a second hard drive to the 6930?

From what I understand it does have a second hard drive bay but you need additional parts to use it.

That's correct bud, if you flip it over, you should be able to see where the second HDD would go. If you look at the laptop as you're using it normally, the 2nd drive goes in the bottom left hand corner (where your palm would rest) so if you turn it over and look in that general area, you'll see the slot.

You can put a second HDD in there, however, Acer have put a weird cover on the bay which means if you wanted a second drive, you'll need to order the correct cover from Acer. I've heard of some people actually grinding the original bay down for it to fit, but I can't comment how well this works.

If you give Acer a call (the UK number is 0870 853 1005 iirc), they can sell you the cover you require.

if the 6930 is anything like my 8930g its just open the cover and slot the new drive in and put the cover back on, that was it nothing but a new drive was needed

Yeah fairly similar with the 6930G, the second bay cover has two plastic bits that stick out a fair bit which means it can't be closed if there's a second HDD in the bay.

Those are the two part number you'll need. One is for the metal 'cage' that goes around the HDD, the other is for the actual cover.

Does anyone know where I can pick up these parts for a reasonable price? The best I've managed to find is around £50 after P&P has been taken into account:eek:
