Hi,

A friend wants to add wireless to their home (laptops etc). They currently have ADSL and a BT Voyager 205. I was going to recommend adding a Linksys WRT54GS to the network to provide the wireless.

From what I can gather from google (correct me if i'm wrong) the Voyager 205 is modem and a router with an Ethernet port (and USB), would it be as simple as plugging the ethernet port from the 205 into the Linksys?

Any help appreciated.

Cheers,

Think I just found the info I was looking for in another thread:

No ADSL modem. It'll work, you'd just need to hook an ethernet ADSL modem to the WAN port.

Thanks tolien (indirectly) :p

Lol, not much point as I can get the linksys for under £50 ;) (and i've heard separate solutions work better) .

Think I just need to tell me friend to ensure they plug the cable from the voyager 205 into the LAN port of the linksys (not WAN been reading other threads on this) and they should be away.

Do they have to do anything else? (turn off DHCP on the router?)
And also what about accessing the router (linksys) and the 205's web interface? As far as I understand it they are both accessed through 192.168.1.1 is this going to be a problem (not able to access one of them etc)?

Again help appreciated.
