Additional power amp?

Hi guys iam looking at purchasing the yamaha rx a4a and was wondering if and how it would be possible to add a separate power amp do I can run a full 5.14 system instead of the 5.1.2 that the receiver currently has. The jump to the rx a6a is just way too much money

It's a decent idea but you'd need either dedicated pre-outs for the additional height channels or at least assignable pre-outs, neither of which is available on the A4A.

• The amp doesn't process for x.x.4, 'only' x.x.2
• The speaker outputs only have one pair which can be assigned as Atmos output (Extra Sp 1)
• The pre-outs are dedicated (permanently fixed) as centre, front L&R, surround L&R, rear L&R, sub x2

The power amp idea doesn't float. Sorry.

Thank you. You have saved me from making a costly mistake. I guess I'll either just have to stick with 2 height speakers or change the amp
