Additional RAM / Upgrade Query

Hello all,

Long story short, I built a system back in 2020 with 32GB of RAM and would now like to bring it up to 64GB ...

The original sticks were these: https://www.overclockers.co.uk/team...c4-25600c14-3200mhz-dual-chann-my-003-8p.html

What would be the best option, supplement the existing sticks, or replace the existing with two 32GB sticks?

Many thanks,

Benzini

I'd say for ease it be best to replace the 2x current sticks with 2x 32gb.

If you can find the same ram as you already have though, could fulfill all 4 slots. Though this may have a knock on effect to ram speed and stability.

It would potentially yeah, but if they're single rank sticks then having 4 would provide a little boost.
Settlement in the cpuv though it might be better to grab 2 x 32GB sticks if something faster if that's all you want/need.

Thanks for the responses so far, totally neglected to include other useful information such as CPU and Mobo, sorry, doh!

CPU - Intel Core i9-10850K 3.6GHz (Comet Lake) Socket LGA1200

Mobo - Gigabyte Z490 Aorus Elite AC (Socket LGA 1200) DDR4 ATX

I can't seem to find the exact same original memory anywhere, so maybe replacing with 2 x 32GB is the way forward, it's been a rock solid, super fast box, so I'm keen not to compromise that by making a poor choice when replacing/adding more RAM ...

Would something like this be a suitable replacement?

If it was me, I'd just buy a cheap kit, since if you need the extra RAM the small loss of performance between a very fast and a fast kit is going to be insignificant.

That said, if you do something like playing esports games at a low resolution then the speed matters more.

The cheaper one. It won’t make a difference performance wise

Amazing, thanks everyone, really appreciate your assistance ... the box was primarily built for MSFS 2020, so just doubling the RAM in preparation for MSFS 2024 as per recommended specs.
