Does anyone have any experience using the new digital addressable LED header on the latest asus mobos? The selection of addressable LED strips seems fairly limited, and I cannot see any on OCUK. Information seems to be hard to find also.

Does anyone have any experience with the cablemod addressable strips? At first glance they look OK, but they don't seem to come with a very long extension lead for routing from the mobo to where you actually want the strip to start.

I looked into it briefly but it worked out my board didn't have addressable LED strip support, the headers on the mobo on my board were for plain old RGB ones.

The ASUS Aura software sounds like it should be able to control them though, and you can get them massively cheaper by buying a reel of it from somewhere like Amazon or eBay. I think it's just WS2811 strips with 5050 chips.

I just a little wary of plugging in a random cheapo strip into my rather expensive motherboard... although the cablemod ones almost certainly come from the same factory!

Yeah there's not a huge deal of variation between strips of the same specification. I know with RGBW strips you need to double check the arrangement of the wires but if they're the same as the board/controller/power supply, you should be golden.

I've opted for MENGCORE® 5m 16.4FT 150led WS2812B Full Color LED strip 150 LED 150 pixels Not waterproof Individually Addressable Dream Color led strip (PCB Black)

Let's see how it goes...
