Adium no longer connecting on Late 08 MBP

Hi all,

Adium instantly fails when trying to connect on my new MBP. It used to work without problems on the same network and no other special circumstances using my old MB.

I've tried the DNS (hosts file) trick (which is no longer applicable to Leapord .3) but still no luck.

Any idea?

An alternative is to try using the "Systemwide HTTP Settings" in your account's respective preferences under the proxy tab.

This however, will not fix the problem you are having since it's an alternative workaround.

Inspired by your suggestion, I enabled connection via HTTP for the specific account; this has worked. However, it is bugging me not being able to do it "how I used to"

Where are you using your MBP to cause this problem?

I had to use the alternative when I was at University. Perhaps the problem lies within whatever router you are connected to.

Are you using a netgear router by any chance? I had the same problem (DG834GT) and had to downgrade the firmware, there was a similar post here a few days ago as well.
