I may be an idiot, but i don't see a more appropriate section, please move if there is.

I'm hoping to move into a new home office next month and will need a desk. With a thought to posture and health a convertible standing desk seems like a smart idea.

First if anyone has experience of a standing desk, please share, next if anyone has experience of these convertible desks please please share, finally any suggestions of brand and model would be appreciated.

I'd prefer to keep costs low (relatively speaking). My case will be alongside but not on the desk and I'll be obviously checking cable lengths.

Well, so much for waiting for advice :).

Found the IKEA hand crank adjustable, which is £180. Saw recommendations to save for electric, to help save on potential laziness issues. Electric ones cost a ton though. Found one for half off (basic model, no memory buttons, but then a hand crank doesn't have memory buttons either), then got a voucher for an additional 24% off for christmas. £160, electric adjustable, 100kg limit (vs the 30kg from ikea), 120cm x 80cm (deeper than basic Ikea). Took the plunge since I didn't want to wait and risk missing the sale/voucher.

Seems like a good price for a desk in general, let alone sit stand, let alone let alone an electric one.

Maybe too late but costco just started selling a powered desk for £239 instore, i'm looking for reviews cos it looks too good to be true.

That's a great price. Haven't got mine yet, delivery issues, which will hopefully be overcome by the end of this week. Will still have to be patient since I'm not going to be able to use it until my office is ready.

Still haven't put mine together unfortunately, waiting on finally getting my office space sorted.

However, I still cannot argue the price, £160 for a slightly bigger desk than the IKEA basic one (deeper), with a high capacity, so I can put my full computer there and not worry about the boy jumping up on it etc.

Finally built it (got the cabin done and electrics in). Only (slight) issue is that when it's high, the monitor wobbles, that's mostly on the single point monitor stand, but even then it's not too terrible. Now I've got to get used to working whilst standing.
