Hey Guys,

Some of you may remember my epic gearbox saga which ended up in 2 new gearboxes and 2 new clutches, plus a damaged car, oily interior, broken induction kit and various other nasties. Anyway, it's now transpired that my clutch has started to bite really high and feels horrible when pulling away. It's biting so high that i'm getting the gas on before it's actually biting, so every now and again I rev the car when it should be driving!

It's a mk4 golf, 1998 S reg. Any ideas if you can adjust these clutches, or is it time to go to trading standards and get the dealer to replace it and let "Clutchmasters" foot the bill?

yes, if its anything like the mk3, its easy.

do you know where your clutch slave cylinder is?

where in bham are you, ill show ya

I'm actually in Warwickshire, Kenilworth to be precise.
If it needs bleeding, will it be lots of air that's caused the biting point to rise so high?

air in the system does tend to do pretty random things, if its not be bled before, its worth doing.

top up the brake fluid and then push a load out of the clutch slave cyl.

have you asked about this on any mk4 golf sites?

Nope, not yet.

To answer your Q in email, no idea if a new thrust bearing was put up, I was just told that they'd fitted a new (refurbished) clutch kit.
My old clutch went the same way, then the new one was biting way lower down, felt good. But now it's gone back the same way (if not worse) than my old one.
