adjusting brightness

I have just bought a hp dv6 series laptop and the two keys f7 and f8 that adjust brightness appear not to be working either with battery or mains power.

Could it be that i am doing something wrong as all the other keys on the top row are working correctly.

Sorry, yes i am pressing the FN key as well. Tried allsorts since posting but to no avail.

I have sorted the problem. I downloaded the latest display drivers again and this time it worked.
It seemed strange because the "Display Brightness" box did not appear in the Windows Mobility Centre screen but now it does and pressing the FN key along with either f7 or f8 now works.
