This is the result from BT's speedtest:

Test1 comprises of Best Effort Test: -provides background information.
Your DSL connection rate: 20911 kbps(DOWN-STREAM), 1227 kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP profile for your line is - 18000 kbps
Actual IP throughput achieved during the test was - 11772 kbps

Not sure why my throughput is just over 6mb less than my profile but other than that all is good so far.

My throughput has doubled and upload trebled so all in all a worthwhile move after all my initial conerns.

Linestats:

ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 20911 kbps 1227 kbps
Line Attenuation 16.0 db 6.8 db
Noise Margin 6.1 db 6.4 db

Hi

Are you with their business broadband service, or are you with their normal broadband service and called them for the ADLS2+ regrade??? the reason why i'm asking is because its still not avalible on their website for normal users upgrade yet, and as im with their normal option 3 service I was wondering if it would be worth calling them about it.

They in this case would be BT - the ADSL 2+ service won't be available to their residential customers till some time later this year - but obviously other providers have had it up and running for a while.

I'm with IDNet also and had the re-grade, these are my stats :

> adsl status

CO ITU Version[0] : 00004946 CO ITU Version[1] : 0000544e

It'll require a week or so to stabilise properly? So I'll keep checking throughout the week. It's pretty good though, slightly cheaper and more allowance :)

Nice nice.

I'm now synced at 19690 with a line profile of 15000 and a throughput of 11500-15000 which I'm pretty happy with. Noise margin has gone up a bit from 6.1db to 8.9db.

Good for you guys. Bt came and upgraded the 3 mile home - exchange line for us, used to sync at 4mbit and now can sync at 1.5mbit max. Complete shambles = BT. British Tw..'s

What do you mean by 'upgraded'? We certainly wouldn't have put in brand new copper all the way from home to exchange for one customer. Have you had a new dropwire installed (i.e. the cable from the top of the pole to your house)? If an engineer has changed pairs between your dp (distribution point outside your house) back to the exchange then unless they've put you on a cable with a bigger conductor size (or changed from aluminium to copper cables) or possibly re-crimped a few connections along the way then you should see no change in connection speed. It's possible that your line has some kind of a 'HR' (high resistance) fault which could have caused the drop in sync speed...
EDIT: Has your sync speed dropped? Or has your actual download speed just gone down because chances are it's nothing to do with your BT line and it could just be your ISP...

Its my sync speed, and I didnt order anything, its for the whole village i live in. BT OpenWorld did some work on the line in between the village and the town, and ever since our internet has gone downhill.
