Administer Macs from AD

We look after a school who have around 50 Macs. They want to administer the user accounts etc through AD and have been looking into getting a Mac server.

Is there any software which will do this without the need for more Mac hardware?

Technically you don't need anything extra. Just bind the machine to the domain in directory services. Then will be able to log on with ad accounts.

Centrify if you just want to throw Mac-specific stuff in GPO, Jamf Pro if you want your life made incredibly easy. Good price for education as well.
