So, since when is a Classic Impreza STI deemed uninsurable by Admiral?

I thought their only restrictions were for under 21s?

they can choose to restrict whatever they want.

Impreza classic insurance has been a nightmare for ages due to the poor security on the UK classic models. Its why they started out insisting on aftermarket trackers.

I was insured with admiral last year on one? a 99/00, modified and it cost me £700 fully comp (26 with 8NCB). Had no tracker but had cat 1 alarm. In fact they also quoted me on our imported R33 skyline? Have you tried online?

theres only a few subaru STI they wont cover most of them just rate high on their system, what exact model you trying to put on cover ?

They wont do any of the Sierra Cosworths either (jelly mould or Saffs).

Escossies are ok though.

i've seen quite a few cossies on cover, including sapphire RS, they just very highly rated upon. there are one or two specific models but they can still cover most cars

What Specific models?

There are :-

Sierra RS Cosworth
Sierrs RS500 Cosworth
Sierra Sapphire RS Cosworth
Sierra Sapphire RS 4x4 Cosworth
Escort RS Cosworth big turbo
Escort RS Cosworth small turbo (also avail in LUX and Monte Carlo trim)
Granada Cosworth
Scorpio Cosworth (avail in Ghia, Ghia X and Ultima trim).

They told me the will only insure the last 4 in that list and even then the quote from them on the last one was extortionate (£680 - I'm currently paying £350 with Privalege)

and osme times they had to refer some cars to their underwritters as they sometimes will put different variations under different names/similar names if they are rating the same upon them

these ones should be quote-able however as i mentioned they are rated high upon, it depends on how much infomation you give the person on the phone, some of them dont search by the correct model/trim levels etc

SIERRA RS COSWORTH 1993 86-87 3 Door
SIERRA RS COSWORTH 1993 87-88 3 Door
SIERRA RS COSWORTH 1993 88-89 4 Door
SIERRA RS COSWORTH 500 1993 87-87 3 Door
SIERRA SAPPH RS COS(IMP 1993 89-** 4 Door
SIERRA SAPPH-RS-COS 1998 90-93 4 Door
SCORPIO ULTIMA 16V 1998 *theres a load of them*

That's not a Cosworth - Scorp Cossies are 2935cc 24v.

like i said theres a wholllllle list of them, i will check tomorrow for cossie versions as i was in the middle of leaving to go home when i did the last list :) but like i said the more information you give them the more likely they will find the right one to put on cover

I insured my car with them last year including all the stick on tat, for a reasonable price.

Saying that, they were the ONLY insurance company that would insure me!

Maybe the web dev's read the forum.
