Adnams have branched out into distilling - we went to a do at our local garden centre and noticed some Gin, Vodka, Limoncello and a Cherry Liqueur all distilled by Adnams. I thought we should try the vodka.

FWIW I only drink vodka neat

I usually like Stolichnaya chilled for a bit in the freezer and then poured over ice - it softens the spirit and makes for a smoother nip. I don't really care for Stoli at room temperature - it has a "fishy" (for want of a better word) note.

The Adnams (distilled from barley) reminds me much more of potcheen. It tastes much stronger, but when drunk at room temperature seems to have a much better depth of flavour. It has a powerful and warming alcohol hit, but has a good 'vodka' finish - no faint chemical aftertaste, just a nice warming feeling.

If you like vodka (neat) then see if you can give it a try - it's not cheap, ~£25 a bottle, but by crikey it's nice and you don't need to freeze/chill it. If you like a vodka mixer, just buy the cheapest one and freeze it for a few hours ;)
