Anyone using this and is it any good?
Im asking as I was trying to price up a Lightroom/Photoshop 6 combo and this looks to be a really cheap way of doing it especially as I can get educational pricing, so just under 23 quid a month :p

Any drawbacks (apart from not owning the software) or issues with it or is it really as good as it looks?
Are there limits on how many PC's you can run it on?

Looks ok, but I just don't like the idea of continued expense. Tbh for things like photoshop, I doubt you would ever need to upgrade (at least if you using it for photography as lot's of pros are still using cs2 etc.) so I wouldn't want to pay out money continuously. I'm sure LR will see some worthwhile improvements though.

ive just upgraded from cs2 (to 6),main reason being 64bit/ram usage.
if you look around you can find some good deals on it

I quite like it, although it really depends on how many Adobe apps you use - I use about 8 on a regular basis so it's worth it for me. There are a number of other features too though, they've finally released a desktop app for the cloud storage (20GB) which I use often for moving stuff between computers/backup for my dropbox. They're also rolling out video tutorials from sites like Lynda and Kelby. If you miss a payment it reverts back to the trial version until you can pay again. You can use it on two computers and it's not restricted to on OS so I use it on my Mac and PC (which is different to their one platform collections). You don't have to be connected to the internet all the time, once a month to activate your payment for that month.

When I was looking at upgrading I asked my 'do I really need Photoshop?'.

The answer for me was no so upgraded Lightroom and use it now for 100% of photography requirements and for anything that Lightroom can't do, there is always GIMP if I need it.

£23 p/m just seems like an insanely expensive and unreasonable continued cost when you only seem interested in Lightroom & Photoshop and the software itself isn't particularly expensive in the first place.

I'm the same, Lightroom does basically 100%, anything extra and the GIMP is fine but that is rare. I just don't like to process much beyond what LR can offer, feels ,ugh more like playing with a dark room; control exposure, crop, minor dodge and burn if I must, adjust contrast, WB,sat.

As a side point, for Student Pricing, I nabbed the Full CS6 Master Collection + LR4 for about £500 earlier this year.

I don't need a lot of the master collection, but for the price it seemed worth it. It's also worth noting that you can upgrade your student edition to a version that in theory, I believe would be up to CS8, and even if you have the student version you can upgrade to the full retail version if you're no longer a student.

Photoshop is definitely worth it though over other stuff. Content aware healing, whilst I only discovered it recently is some kind of God. In fact anything where you need to make major edits, I'd say it's worth it.

i got a card from adobe offering it to me for £27.34 a month and i was very temped , but from what i see once the year is up you to pay £50 a month and in the 3rd year who know what they charge, soi thought it be better (if i was upgrading) to buy the software outright that way i know what it will cost me

We're looking into this at work at the moment. Apparently Adobe were doing an offer which expired on the 31st December to allow people on CS4 to upgrade straight to CS6. Don't know what the cost was. :(

For £330 for the first year it's not terrible compared to upgrade costs (cheapest I could find a CS4 to CS6 MC upgrade was around £900!), but as said already you have to keep paying...

Its rumoured that from 2014 Adobe will cease to offer traditional licensed software and will only offer them via the creative cloud license - because of piracy.

Well i hope they don't! that's on the assumption that EVERYONE in the world has broadband and every computer has internet access.

Its like the rumour xbox will be ditching 2nd hand games which will destroy the 2nd hand games market which makes them more money than selling new games.

I would take that with a pinch of salt..... they may, like now offer more to CC users but i doubt they will solely move over and ditch traditional licencing.

just had a look and you can sign up for one app for £17pm, i hope they offer different options when or if they do go cloud only, i use LR and PS :( i do not want to pay £34 for two apps!

£34pm for two apps?!

£408 for a year...

They better do some heavily discounted '10 year subscription' or something..

we're looking at this at work for our CS suites and sounds very good.

it works out cheaper for us per user for a year to lease, plus you always have the latest version at no extra cost.
