Adobe Flash Player 11

Also playing a 720p video in 64 bit IE seems to only use about 7% cpu time while in 32 bit it is between 12-15%

Is this fairly typical?

Think I will switch to 64 bit, I did use it before when my 32 bit IE was stuffed but always seemed to have problems with flash player square.

Going to declare my ignorance, the video you refer to, the 720p stuff, playng in IE, is this played using flash, or just native?

There are 64bit versions of FF out, they're just not updated as often.

We are not at a time where we need 64bit browsers though. There is no web application that benefits from a 64bit browser and there are still plug-ins that don't work properly on a 64bit browser.

FFx64 has had nightly builds since early summer with a final release sometime this year. X64 builds, like every other bit of software, are 10-15% faster same with flash/java.

Haha I thought somebody might ask, yeah a flash video on youtube.

IE10 is going to be 64 bit in Windows 8 x64 though is it not.

And up until only recently have major plugins like Flash been updated to work on 64bit browsers so that point is quite irrelevant!

possibly, but my point is x64 has been available, on linux browsers are often 64-bit and there are few problems...compiling a plugin etc. for 64-bit is pretty simple these days is it not?
