I want Photoshop to mess around making visuals and to learn etc.

The price is extortionate £240 direct from Adobe.

Which one am I after, CC or Elements ?

Thanks

It can be awfully expensive for something that you may just be dabbling with.

there are other programs out there which will do the vast majority of what PS will do at a fraction of the price.

Check out Affinity Photo too. I’ve been playing with it for the past few months and have been very impressed. It does everything that I want it to and I’ve not noticed any missing functions.

GIMP, Paint.net and Krita are free and are good free alternatives, each having their own strengths and weaknesses depending on what you plan to do.

Get a free trial of Photoshop elements - then buy a permanent copy if it does what you need - you can now only "rent" the full photoshop for £10+ per month.

Paint.net is surprisingly good and is what I use at work if we suddenly need to edit an old drawing that's been scanned as an image. At home I have Photoshop Elements and it does everything I need in terms of photo and image editing/creating. I would highly recommend the 30 day free trial of Elements and if you like it, it's a stand-alone non-subscription product unlike Creative Cloud.

How is it so much I get Photoshop and Lightroom plus 20gb cloud storage for £89 a year.

Look at the Photography Plan.

Whole affinity suite is 50% at the moment, it's a no brainer. I just got designer today to complete the lot. I actually dislike using PS now on my work pc

That is an absolute bargain! Even at full price, they are extremely affordable for people with just a passing interest or to just use occasionally!

Ive been using photoshop for a few years and the shortcuts are kind of hardwired into my brain but since it's gone to subscription Ive switched to gimp but im finding it really hard to get on with. Im going to try affinity and see how that goes.
