Hi - getting ready to order my imac. Wondering if anyone has experience of both final cut express and premiere elements. I've used neither and need a recommendation as to which one to go for.

A colleague told me that final cut express integrates nicely with imovie - what does this mean though and what value does it have? Why would i want to use imovie at all if i have either of these softwares?

With regards to my requirements - the use for this will be editing family movies created on my hd panasonic camera. I will probably burn to blu-ray by using an external drive and roxio (which apparently you need to have in order to burn blu-ray on a mac). I will also probably burn to dvd too. I will want to do the usual edits, adding of menus, adding of soundtracks, swipes fades, etc.

Cheers,
Dub

Don't worry about iMovie, it's a pile of poo.

Premiere Elements will probably be better for you as it can natively edit AVCHD files where as Final Cut has to transcode AVCHD files to something it can natively work with so this adds some time.

Other than that feature wise the two are pretty much identical.
