I was wondering if there's a cheaper way of getting the adobe products?

I haven't used them in years but I was wanting to get them to play around in again. mainly illustrator and Photoshop.

what I was wandering was, can you get the older versions cheaper or something along them lines?

I know there's the trial but id want it for longer than a month.

Thanks in advance.

There was some discussion last year if Adobe had released the CS2 suite of applications as freeware. I think it was a bit of a grey area as although they weren't supported anymore and they provided the serials seemingly for free use they didn't explicitly say help yourself, the line was they weren't supporting the activation servers. Have a google around and there is plenty of info.

Downey I remember seeing the cs2 stuff on the giveaway but adobe said it was a mistake and stopped it.

Kaptainmarc if you're a student or have kids that are at school you can use software for students to get cheaper priced products. Not sure if I can actually mention that though seeing as ocuk sell software? Can a mod delete if inappropriate please.

Photoshop and Lightroom for £9 a month.

I've just subbed to that as I missed the LR5 offer for £50 that was knocking about. As the £9 a month works out to much less than buying photoshop and Lightroom, plus I'll need lightroom when I tinker with stuff for my site, it's a deal well worth it. Well, if Adobe don't let all your details get stolen again.

You need a version of Photoshop already to be eligible, unless they've reopened it for non owners since January?

Been paying the £8.78 a month since febuary and have never owned any Adobe products prior. Photoshop and Lightroom. Still finding Photoshop a bit heavy to find my way around, but Lightroom is the dogs danglys........................worth every penny.

I signed up the beginning of this month for £8 odd a month. I've got no versions of Photoshop anymore. The last one I owned was god knows how many years ago, and it wasn't registered as it was a mates. The only thing I had registered was 3 versions of Elements and Lightroom.

It's so tempting to click on the other stuff in the creative cloud to install :D

Well I must have tried to sign up the only month they didn't have this deal on! Ah well, I went and bought LR5 for £90 instead (then a month later that was reduced...)

thanks for the suggestions all.

looks like my only option is to subscribe didn't really want too as it would literally be for playing around in couple of times a month haven't used it since CS4 when I was in college

For that amount of use I wouldn't sub, just get LR5 and Elements. I always find them on offer on amazon and the initial outlay is more but you can sell the old copy for 50% of what you got it for or more.

I got LR5 and Elements 12 for £80, they have resale value and you don't have to upgrade them every year if you don't want.

As a photographer there's nothing I'm missing from elements that requires a CS package.

The main things I took into consideration were that I upgrade each year anyway, so the sub makes more sense. I'm assuming they'll upgrade via the cc and continue the sub, but if the price increases massively you can cancel it. The other thing that made me move away from elements is that it was really flakey on version 11 so I was weary of purchasing the new one, plus this subscription way gets me all the bells and whistles for less than buying Lightroom and elements.
