I've currently got a Netgear DG834 ADSL router which sits in my lounge and provides internet access over a very long cable to my PC in the upstairs room. So, I want to go wireless but it's taking me an age deciding on which wireless router to get. The logical choice for me is the Netgear DG834PN 108Mbps Rangemax Wireless ADSL2. But firstly, ADSL2?? Is this the standard ADSL service that I'll be recieving or something else?

Secondly, I was wondering if the Netgear WPNT834 240Mbps Rangemax Cable Router would work if it was connected directly to my existing ADSL modem or is this incompatible becuase it's a cable router and not ADSL?

ADSL2+ is completely different, but it's backwards compatible with the ADSL service you've got.
A cable router would work, if you've got an ADSL modem that'll connect to its ethernet WAN port.

Thanks :). So the only difference between a cable modem and an ADSL modem is the cable modem uses an Ethernet connection whilst the ADSL modem uses an RJ11 connection?? I guess I can use a standard CAT5 cable to connect the cable router to my ADSL modem/router then.
