adsl distance = speed etc

I'm on cable so im used to getting what it says on the tin.

Looking at bethere, and im *1.68km straight line" from the exchange,
ballpark, generalisation, what would i be expecting speed wise?

On the graph thing, 1.7km shows as about 2/2.2 down. I'm taking this as straight line and wont be my actual.

Or is it totally impossible to know the distance/speed?

Some sites will give you an expected speed based on your distance from the exchange.

When i signed up with namesco they said i would be able to get 3mb and i am currently getting 3.5 so its pretty close!

if you give them your phone number they can give you a ballpark speed you could expect.
