adsl help

Basically ive just cancelled my virgin adsl account because of shoddy service and horendous speeds... there isnt a cable coverage in the area. Could anyone recommend me a provider which will actually let me play online before 3am?

well i was reading on here and i saw a lot of you seem to be migrating from ukonline to BE, so im not entirely sure if uko's service was going down hill or what... but BE had a better offer aswell.

even dialup would be an upgrade from virgin adsl.

haha cheers... The connection was unbeleivable... i was actually tempted to go on a free dialup service because i sometimes wasn't getting speeds better than 25kbps on a download... i had to wait till the early morning to do anything lol.

I remember the days i had Virgin ADSL ... even on their 512k service at the time it was horrendous. Moved to ADSL24 and 8MB Connection with maxed out Download speed. What a difference.

On Virgin Cable 20mbit. No probs here, get a constant 18.7mb transfer.
Just ADSL in General is crap!!

Id move rather move house then go back to ADSL

How is the BE service? Do they do speed throttling and such like?
Tempted to switch to them myself.

Apparently they have a fair usage policy, but according to the kitz ADSL forum no one has ever been restricted

Personally I found Be absolutely useless. I never got above about 7mbit even though I was on the 24mbit service with relatively new wiring in our house (and yes I went through all the process of test sockets etc). We weren't "that" far away from the exchange either. In the end I paid the termination fee because it just was not worth the money and migrated to cable. Although there is lots of bad press about virgin their internet has been 100% perfect for me always getting the full 20mbit.
Granted though their support is AWFUL.

However unfortunately you cant get cable but thats just my opinion of Be!
