I've just migrated ISP and ran a speed test since it seemed to be extremely slow.

The result was:

"Test1 comprises of Best Effort Test: -provides background information.
IP profile for your line is - 1000 kbps
DSL connection rate: 448 kbps(UP-STREAM) 3552 kbps(DOWN-STREAM)
Actual IP throughput achieved during the test was - 834 kbps"

Given that the downstream rate is much higher than the actual rate, is it likely that I will see an increase over the next few days as the config stabilises?

Thanks

Best it doesn't stay that way then

I left BT previously because they said 1Mb was all I would get due to the distance. I went to Zen and got a straight upgrade to 2.5Mb.

I've only come back to BT because the wife wants to get the Vision box

Looks like you have fixed rate of 1mb because it just wouldn't be 1000kbps

DSL connection rate: 448 kbps(UP-STREAM) 3552 kbps(DOWN-STREAM)

It's Max alright. The profile should increase, unless your connection's losing sync and reconnecting at a lower rate.
