Right, my ADSL max has come into effect today - yet I'm not able to get higher than the 2MB speeds I was on, despite being connected at 7616/488.

I've tried speed tests and just downloading stuff - I can't get it over the 250KBytes/s I was used to.

I've noticed that my downstram noise margin is considerably lower than it used to be (though I can't put my finger on what it was - I know it was double figures), is this good, or the problem?

Any help would be appreciated, thanks.
 
SNR Margin will decrease due to the nature of MaxDSL (it operates on the minimum Signal/Noise Ratio it can basically)

The 2Mbps cap should be lifted in <3days if you reboot your router once a day at least until you get the faster speeds.

A noise margin of 3dB is particularly low though, by default it should be about 6dB. Also, I don't think Interleaving should be on by default so perhaps the line was a bit unstable when they first switched it over.

Just leave it for the next 3 days or so and see how it goes.

Bad advise. Rebooting the router unnecessarily can make the BT systems think you're line is unstable and drop your sync rate and enable interleaving.

Ah. I'll leave it as it is for a few days in that case.

Care to define Interleaving? Google's throwing up rubbish about hard drives and RAM :/

Or that you're simply using something like a USB modem where rebooting the PC will cause a drop of sync. Unless you do it quite a few times in a short period of time the BT systems will do nothing - my sync has been dropping quite a few times in the evening since it was enabled and nothing has changed with regards to Interleaving or target SNR.

It still hasn't been 3 days since you've been enabled (24/06/06 -> 26/06/06) so the BRAS profile should be lifted soon.

I meant reboot the router once a day until the speed increases, but worded it pretty poorly there :o As I said though, unless you reboot the router loads of times in a short space of time nothing should be affected.
 
Alright, thanks for clearing that up.

If it's not sorted by this time tomorrow, it'll be moaning-down-the-phone time.

As for rebooting the router - I'm talking like 3 times a day... Morning, 4:00-ish and 10:00-ish. So yeah :p
 
Still the same - so I got on the blower to an "Arun Manoharran"...

Apparently, BT are still finding a stable speed... should be done in 10 days :/
