right i do not know what i'm doing wrong here.

i got the upgrade to adsl max 2 days ago right.

connection has stabilised somewhat at 5 meg but i want more, so what i've been doing is this.

into bios and drop cpu multi to 10X (i am on amd x2 4800 by the way), multi to 3x, then bump up cpu frequency 5 mhz at a time until i'm getting a stable (according to prime anyway) 2.65 ghz.

but adsl connection is not getting any faster at all. have i got this overclocking thing wrong or what man ????????

I think you have got a bit confuddled about how networking works but been late I advise an early night and tackle the problem tomorrow when your thinking a bit clearer.

yeah man. i even tried changing my set up to raid ( i have 3 hdd's) but this doesn't work either.

i've been on to my isp and they say i should remove all fans from the computer if i want better speed but i think they are giving me bad advice..........

isn't that right though. you have to change bios settings in order to synch properly with your local exchange. the dslam wont boot right if your multi isn't running at a speed below the mobo's default settings?

i was also told the page file has to be shut down and it helps too if you are running a dual boot system with a linux distro. preferably daftlinux

:D wwwaaahhhhaayyyyyy dreadi.

you the man

dunno what possessed me but i just wanted to post something daft.

think probably the ocuk mods will ban me now, but after the money i've spent with ocuk they should think twice

if you pour cherryade into your pc, it'll overclock your dsl to 100mbit!!!

Someone I knew tried this with cable internet... it changed his homepage to something about (popping) cherries but the speed stayed the same, maybe it was the brand he used? ;) :p

yeaaahhhhhh man.

thats it. i knew it.

i'll post back after i've tried it. but i have to say that this sounds like the answer goddaammiitt

The best thing to do is to get some petrol and fill your case with it. Ignite the petrol and watch the "blistering/scorching" speed of your ADSL (excuse the pun).

joking aside though this is not good.

now getting a steady 5 meg so i must be doing something right. maybe it is a result of upping my cpu multi to 48 (i've opened up my 4800 and stabbed a screwdriver into its heart and this enables an unlocked x2 in both directions) and upping cpu frequency to 300mhz.

but although the adsl speed is getting better i've now noticed that my graphics cards cd burning feature is only working at half speed, and i can't seem to find the slot for the discs anymore. do i put the discs into the mobo maybe???

i['ve posted about this everywhere in the last few hours but not getting any helpful replies. its like people don't believe me man

yes you are probably right.

enough is enough.

i was going to ask about mtu and rwin settins for my cpu cooler but forget it. i'm sure it isn't important anyway. :D

anyway, this thread is dead.

You can't "overclock" your internet connection through the BIOS it won't work. All you're doing is typing nonsense for everyone to laugh at, do yourself a favour and stop.

If you're getting 5meg that's good, be happy with what you have.
