ADSL Max Question?

Hey guys,

I just looked on samknows and they estimate my exchange will be enabled for ADSL Max by 31.03.2006 :D

I'm currently only able to get 1 MB (I'm with Pipex btw) on my line, so what does ADSL Max entail? I used the speed calculator in the FAQ and it varies from about 1.5 MB to 2.1 MB - will the upgrade be automatic or do you have to apply for it or something?

Just wondering...

Cheers,

SW.

(Another) MaxDSL Question.

Hi guys,

I’ve another question.... :)

With the 31st just around the corner and the potential speed increase on my current 1 MB (Max available) line a real possibility I was thinking?

If in the morning say, my SNR is 10 dB and my Att. is 51 dB, according to the FAQ calculator I should be able to get 1282kbps on my line? But if at night say my SNR goes as high as 14 dB the calculator says that my line might be capable of 1963kbps :D

So, what I would like to know is; is MaxDSL going to stabilise my fluctuating SNR and give my one constant speed, or, will I get one speed in the morning and one different speed in the evening

Cheers,

SW.

Hey guys,

So it seems mine, and nearly everyone else’s exchange DID get upgraded yesterday?

Well done BT.

Now, according to various sources apparently my line can now support up to 3 MB?

I don’t think is it worth upgrading to Pipex’s MAX service if I can only get 3 MB But should I take them up on the offer of a free 2 MB upgrade?

I worried though because when I first signed up with them they put me on a 2 MB DSLAM and I had 3 months of constant loss of sync, speed issues and days upon days of down-time?

But with this new MAX service, there should be anymore of these problems should there? Because your line only syncs at the fastest speed possible doesn’t it?

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated ;)

Thanks,

SW.

My current 1MB contract with Pipex is 1 month away from completion and I would like to know what my options are

Because of my location and poor quality of my line I’ve only ever been able to support a 1MB connection, but I can now support up to 3MB with MAX according to BT/Pipex/Samknows? But what of traditional BB, does that cease to exist now? Will every service that you subscribe to be provided though the new MAX technology?

Basically, what I want to know is, can I now subscribe to any ‘traditional’ 2MB service whereas before I couldn’t have, up until MAX was activated?

A MAX package seems a bit of waste for me only being able to get up to 3MB?

So if I can get 2MB, guaranteed, that would be great

Any ideas?

Cheers,

SW.

...Just my luck :(

So I'm going to have to go for a MAX service then to get any speed increase? BT say I can get up to 3MB, so presumably I won't get any less than 1MB which I currently have?

I might give Pipex/BT a call to see what kind of speed I can 'realistically' expect to see

Thanks,

SW.

Hey guys,

With my contract nearly over with Pipex (At last...) I've been starting to think about MAX again

I've been on the Netgear forums recently looking for a problem I've been having with one of their switches and I've noticed some threads regarding problems with MAX and the trusty old DG834G - the router which I happen to own

Is there any truth is this? I'm sure I've seen users in these forums using said router with MAX with nothing to report?

Help!

SW.

I have a V2 DG834G that has performed flawlessly with Max, has never sync'd below 8128 from day 1.

What sort of problems were they reporting?

A lot of the issues people have are down to Max, not to their routers.
I saw this thread http://forum1.netgear.com/support/viewtopic.php?t=27673 - though there are others, all similar.

But on reflection you probably right - its problems with MAX and not the router they're having? I think I was just panicking

Out of interest though, what firmware are you using? I'm on the latest official release, but I still have an SNR that loves to wander... 12-25dB in a day! Lower in the day, higher at night?

This could cause a few problems with MAX couldn't it?
