ADSL MAX, Which Package ???

I would go for Zen if it wern't for the connection fee. I wouldn't mind paying the connection fee if i knew it would work but i have a horrible feeling that it may not work, i don't want to have to pay a connection fee (£47) for BT to then say , Ohhhh, you can't get it ! lol

lol, 160k is fine by tbh, i am mainly looking for the low 30ms response times for FPS online games like CoD and CSS.

If you are an FPS player then you do need to know about interleaving.

If your line is poor quality then BT may set interleaving on to provide a higher or more stable sync rate, but the consequence is that it noticably increases the ping time, adding between 20 - 40ms from what I've seen so far.

I'm on 64k ISDN atm and i can go on servers with about 8 people on maximum otherwise i start to lag really bad. My ping atm ranges from 50-100.
If ADSL MAX does work but then i suddenly notice an increase in latency, i will ring BT and see if they have altered the line in any way (interleaving).
Thanks for pointing that out, i know what to look for if my ping goes up now :)

If i order with Pipex, will BT automatically realise that i need to have the ISDN removed and give me a date for an engineer to come round ? Thanks

If anything happens with your ADSL, you'd never phone BT - you'd always phone your ISP.
If the ADSL doesn't work, you'll get the activation fee back, and you aren't tied for a year like with Pipex...

The conversion should be automatic, but anything's possible.

So if i order Zen 8000 Active and the adsl max doesnt work at all, i get mym activation fee back?
I was speaking to an employee at Fusion UK ADSL and he said that even if the adsl does not work, i wont get my activation fee back.

I can't find anywhere on the Zen site saying that you get activation money back, does anyone know where it says this on the site? I have emailed them to ask.

Just got a reply from my e-mail (that was fast).
He said that he can't see why it wouldnt connect but if it for some reason didn't connect, i would get my activation fee refunded :D, he also said that the lowest speed is 168kbps and he said i would have no trouble at all getting that speed, i think i'll order it and keep my fingers crossed !
Thanks :)

I thought that if you migrated to Zen then they don't charge an activation fee

I plan on migrating to the Zen 8000 Active package next month when my current 12 month AOL contract is up.

It says on the Zen website that migration is FREE so I assume that you only pay the activation fee if your current ISP won't give you a MAC code and then you have to cancel the contract and re-activate your line with Zen

u dont have to pay a fee if you are moving from an ISP to Zen but you do have to pay an activation fee if you dont currently have broadband (my case).
I found out that i do get the activation fee back if the adsl max doesnt work.
I have another question. :p
My neighbours now want to try broadband but when they go to order, both of their phone numbers (semi-detached) say 'Our records indicate that a line-sharing device is connected to your line', what does this mean ?
thanks

Theres a thing called DACS where if someone wants another phone line instead of BT speeding lots of £ to lay new copper, they use the current line to provide 2 vitural lines, but it make DSL impossible, they would need to loose a line to get DSL
