Chaps,

Currently have a Linksys WAG54G which keeps dropping out...

Are there any other models on the market that stand out above the rest regarding connectivity and stability????

Looking for something with wired and wireless capabilites...

The BT line the router works on has poor attenuation and SNR if that helps.

Andy

I had a WAG54G for about a day before returning it, pretty awful!

My vote at the moment is for the Netgear DG834G, far more stable and feature packed than the Linksys or the 3Com that preceded it.

People in here have mentioned poor performance in ADSL Max trials, but I don't know a lot about that. Syncs with our Bulldog LLU service at the full 8Mbps.

Cheers, have any people used the BT Voyager series? They seem to have good reviews on the BT website, but not much coverage elsewhere...

The line is terrible here, its either that or the router being very very unstable.

BT are crap also, we can't get a line faster than 512kb/s!!!!!

I seem to remember PC Format rating the Voyager 2100.

Couldn't find the review for that on the site when I did a search so do you remember what they thought of it?

Any other people with similar problems solved with router choices etc?

Andy

a friend of mine who is a computer engineer said to me recentley to avoid any router that uses the connexant chipset and go for the Texas Instrument AR7 chipset instead, he recommended this router

ADSL-SAR-600EW

"The Solwise SAR-600EW ADSL2/2+ Ready Wireless LAN 802.11g 4 Port Ethernet USB Combo Router uses Texas Instruments AR7W Chipset solution that fully complies to ANSI T1.413 Issue 2, ITU-T G.992.1 (G.dmt) and G.992.2 (G.lite) ADSL standard. The SAR-600EW also provides future proof functionality with higher data transmission rates with ADSL2, ADSL2+, Extended Reach-ADSL support. This next generation ADSL will be providing up to 12Mbps speed and additional 600 feet reach for ADSL2 and 20Mbps speed for distances up to 5,000 feet.

The SAR-600EW is the ideal solution to provide a 6 in 1 device for both Wired and Wireless connectivity via a combined ADSL2/2+ Ready Modem support, Routing functionality for multi-user sharing, 4 port AutoMDI/MDIx 10/100 Switch, USB port, high speed 54Mbps IEEE802.11b/g Wireless LAN Access point and true firewall capability functionality.

Security is provided via a double Stateful Packet Inspection and NAT based firewall and Hardware accelerated AES/WEP/WPA based encryption/MAC Address Filtering for Wireless links. VPN Passthrough and DMZ support provide additional security support for telecommuters as well as allow flexibility while maintaining security against malicious hackers. "

the customer support via their forums are excellent too, just do a google for the router, cant post a direct link I think.
