ADSL Modem

We have just installed a new modem put it on a seperate plug so it stays on, but when we shut down the computer we have to wait for some time as it is very slow,then when we turn on we can not go straight on line it says server not found so we have to turn off the computer again and turn off the modem at the wall then turn it all back on again to find we are back on line. This is a Linksys adsl modem

What modem, as in what's the model number?

I have just got one of them modems and it seems fine when switching pc off then on,in the settings for modem make sure you have connection on"keep alive" setting.
