ADSL Modem

Might as well just snag a cheap netgear router and turn off the wireless and set it to "modem only" mode, thats what ive done with my old DG834Gv2 when i got my WNDR3700.

All the stand alone ADSL modems i see on amazon or elsewhere have poor ratings or cost nearly as much as a full blown router, plus some dont even say ADSL2+ either.

I am with BE atm, my router is a Belkin N+ but would like to replace it as the uptime on this device is terrible, when the net goes down it does not reconnect. I dont trust the router if it cannot reconnect. I would like a good performing modem and router than a good router and poor modem.

In which case get your BeBox out and put it in bridge mode. This details the best way of doing it (substitute the BeBox login details), there's probably info on the Be forums too.

Discontinued now.

DrayTek 120, does MPPoA bridging which is what you will need for Be retail if you want to pass the public IP through to the router.

I use a ZyXel P-660R-D1 at the moment as it is what my ISP (Andrews & Arnold) provided with my connection, it supports AnnexM and works as a PPPoE bridge happily, can be had for around £25.
