Hi, I have cable boradband and do not know much about ADSL, What i want to do is an ADSL modem wifi router at my parents house but am not sure what to do, Do you still need to connect (like you do over 56k)? Also does it matter that it would be a differant modem than the one supplied (i.e. Mac address's)

Thanks

you can use any modem/router, and you just need to enter your login details on the router's configuration page and you will always be connected so no need to dial up unless your on a pay as you go service.

Doesn't matter, you can use any ADSL device as long as it's compatible with the technology on the line.

With cable you have this problem though because it's effectivly a big ethernet (and ethernet has no security features so MAC addresss restriction is used to control who is allowed to connect).
