hi,have been using an adsl wireless router(netgear dg834) for about a year now and would always run at about 6meg(on tiscali max).now all of a sudden the 'I' internet light flashes green then cuts out then green and cuts out.

now the wireless had died several weeks previous so assumed the router had finally given up the ghost.swapped with a linksys wag54gs and still the same.

the weird thing is if i use my old speedtouch modem that came with the package the internet works!!it only works, mind, at 2.3meg.
i am assuming these arent as sensitive to line issues as the routers are so spoke to tiscali and after much headache type senarios (went from sorry sir your line cannot take 8 meg...me...so why sell it to me...bod on phone...i dont know ?to your line now takes 6 meg but still does'nt work i'll get the engineers to have a look!!!!........f!£$%ing tiscali)

so am i thinking along the lines of a line fault causing this?

any help greatly appreciated, and also how to i change from tiscali?

Could be a line fault. Didn't they run a line test?

The speedtouch wont connect at full speed. It should connect higher than 2 meg thou...

If you sure that new router is fine then it will be up to tiscali.

hi,
have you checked all the filters? mine had this problem and it ended up being a filter incorrectly installed by a sky technician.
might be worth checking?.........
good luck,
steve.

If the Speedtouch connects at a third of the speed, it's pretty much guaranteed to be a hell of a lot more stable.
As suggested, check your filters and wiring, and try connecting the router directly to the master socket without any filters or extension wiring.

SNR margin, attenuation and sync rate would be useful from both devices - instructions in FAQ.
