Hi.
Just before xmas, for no aparent reason, the average speed i was getting dropped from a rarther nice 350KB/s ish download speed, to sub 100-250ish for weeks, along with constant drop outs.
About late Jan, the drop outs stopped, and the speed got a little better, to about 250ish constant.
Now, ive just replaced all the internal telephone cabling in the house with some Cat5e, and my line stats have shot up, download speed, 24 hours later, is about 275KB/s when using the Zen test files. Still not the 300+ of last year though.

Here are my line stats according to my ADSL Router/Modem (WAG354G):

Any ideas of what i 'should' be getting after the training peroid, and is it worth me giving Zen a nudge, see if they can do nout?

Thanks in advance all. :).

The training period is irrelevant.

With that sync rate you should be on the 2Mbps profile, which'll give you ~240kB/s.

So theres a chance that ive been earmarked on the 2MBps profile because of the problems i was having?

There's no "earmark" - with the sync rate you're on, you should be on the 2Mbps IP profile already.
It's not fixed though - increase your sync rate and the profile will increase too (in the steps at the bottom of this).

Nothing you can really do more than you have already; the wiring at your end should be very good now. I can't see Zen being able to do anything. There's no 'fault' with the line so them prodding BT will do nothing and your speeds are still reasonable, certainly not a world apart from your previous top speeds.

Im still not happy with the speed tbh.
I cant see a logical reason as to why im not getting what i had before, with far worse line stats, now. Other than 'im on profile x'.

I'll have a word with Zen.

Your line is interleaved, you could ask them to turn that off as it may get you a slightly higher sync and lower latency although it could make the line less stable as a result.

That's true, if you really want increased throughput you can get them to turn off interleaving, but with an SNR like that the line is likely to drop at random if there's any additional noise on the line.

The reason for the lower speed is the sync speed, not the profile you're on. From the SNR reported you really aren't likely to get any faster sync, so short of finding a fault on the line or replacing it entirely there's nothing really anyone can do.

Your downloads are throttled by the IP profile, which follows your sync rate. The correlation between your IP profile and sync rate is one-way.
