had ADSL activated today the modem is reporting

Bandwidth (Up/Down) [kbps/kbps]: 448 / 5,440

and other statistics of

Output Power (Up/Down) [dBm]: 11.5 / 19.5
Line Attenuation (Up/Down) [dB]: 28.5 / 52.0
SN Margin (Up/Down) [dB]: 20.0 / 6.5

so to me it looks as if i've connected at 5.4meg but on speedtest.net i can only manage 1.9meg download ping time is 21ms

are my thoughts correct? s there anything i can do to improve it?

the isp is an Entanet resseler

TIA

You need to wait for your IP profile to increase - if you run the BT Speedtest, you should find it's currently set at 2Mbps.

yep done the BT speedtest as you say 2mb, will read up on IP profile.

thanks

IP profile is just the policy at the providers end for your connection, customers will all get activated at a base of (in this case 2M) and then get bumped up once the line is active to the purchased speed.

Try again tomorrow, see if you get better speeds.

Well I'm in a similar boat as Deano.

Moved to Zen (from Nildram aka Tiscali) yesterday and my router reports:-

Bandwidth (Up/Down) [kbps/kbps]: 736 / 3328

and other statistics of

Output Power (Up/Down) [dBm]: 8 / 7
Line Attenuation (Up/Down) [dB]: 31.5 / 63.5

Ran speedtest and it reports on 974kb/s down and 626kb/s up so my up is good but my down is really poor :( - with Tiscali I used to get around 1800kb/s down

I just treid running this and its coming up with
Failure due to incorrect number lol

I know i have entered the correct number

I was told (online) that the BT speedtest will only work if you are on BT hardware at the exchange. If you're LLU'd then you'll have to use another test.

I could use it fine until I was moved off my Pipex/BT to a Pipex/Tiscali LLU connection.
