howdy, am moving into a mates flat for 3 months, and i need to get ADSL happening ASAP, i have looked online for an ISP that does month to month without a contract, but i cant find one, i know virgin used to do it ... but not any more!

does anyone know of anyone who does?

many thanks

Just to verify; If I move house, get a BT line I can use one of these until BE is enabled on my local exchange (couple of months) and cancel without any extra cost?

Also, would BT send an engineer out to check line (im on the border of getting ADSL at all), or would it be, say a Zen engineer?

I think it's safe to say that if your boarderline on getting adsl, Be* proberly would'nt take you on because your line length.

Nobody sends out Engineers to check new lines these days, the remote diagnostics at BT's end will report on your line and determine the outcome.

Only exception is if they feel the line may support ADSL only with the addition of a new Engineer installed faceplate, this was part of the Extended Reach project and I'm not even sure if that is still running.

As mentioned above, if you are marginal for ADSL at all then BE will not supply you.

There wouldn't be any point in trying to run ADSL2+ over a line that could barely handle ADSL

Would BT be able to tell me if I can get ADSL and how fast without installing anything (or having a modem?). I'd hate to sign up, only to find I cant have it.

Sorry for the OT questions.

As stated use the number checker but remember it's not 100% accurate. Bottom line is if your line can't support ADSL you won't be held to contract. Also as mentioned Be is probably a non starter for you as ADSL2 is more distance dependant than ADSL.
