A friend of mine would like to get connected with the least amount of fuss possible.

He wants to be able to complete his work online rather than having to go into school (he's a teacher).

What's the best/cheapest package? He's already with BT/Sky for his TV and phone.

First off, check your friend can get their LLU packages. Put their details into this site: www.samknows.com

The exchange checker should give you the distance to the exchange (which likely will affect the final ADSL speed) and whether or not it's been unbundled/activated for Sky's LLU.

Once done, it's prob best to ring Sky and ask them about their pricing - or just put the details of your friend's current TV package in when the site asks you to select a total package.

I personally prefer o2/Be internet but Sky's packages are good and if your friend already has TV with them, they can get a very nice deal.

Ah, sounds like you're in for a whole pile of fun :)

One time in a similar situation as yourself I didn't even think to check if the person's PC had a NIC port... Rather embarassing once I realised it very late on :/

I think there are better offers than Sky Broadband Connect out there.

People often rate o2/be, sky llu and entanet resellers highly.
